Empadronamiento Benidorm: putting your address on the padrón

You can register on the Benidorm padrón without an appointment, at the town hall on Plaza SS.MM. los Reyes de España or at one of its Extensiones Administrativas, with your passport and proof that you live at the address. The padrón municipal is the register of everyone who lives in the town, and registering on it is called empadronamiento. It is not an immigration procedure, but its certificate is the usual proof of your address.

Who registers, and where

Everyone who lives in a Spanish town is expected to be on its padrón, whatever their nationality. You register in the town where you actually live: a flat in Rincón de Loix goes on Benidorm’s padrón, a house in L’Alfàs del Pi or Finestrat on theirs.

The town hall and its district offices

  • Ayuntamiento de Benidorm, Departamento de Estadística y Población, Plaza SS.MM. los Reyes de España 1, 03501 (96 681 54 34)
  • Extensión Administrativa Rincón de Loix, Avenida Juan Fuster Zaragoza 1 (966 809 715)
  • Extensión Administrativa Foietes-Colonia Madrid, Avenida de Beniardá 12, its address since 2026 (965 858 778)
  • Extensión Administrativa Els Tolls-Salt de l’Aigua, Avenida Andalucía 9 (966 812 913)
  • Extensión Administrativa La Cala, Calle Secretario Juan Antonio Baldoví 2 (965 863 005)
  • Extensión Administrativa Alfredo Corral-Maravall-Plaza de España, Calle Maravall 33 (in-person service, no phone listed)

No appointment needed

The town hall’s page on cita previa says its online booking is not in service: you are seen without an appointment at the Ayuntamiento and at the Extensiones of Rincón de Loix, Foietes-Colonia Madrid, Els Tolls-Salt de l’Aigua and La Cala, from 9:00 to 14:00. The town hall’s service charter for the Extensiones gives slightly different hours, from 8:30 to 14:30 in winter and to 13:30 in summer, so a morning visit suits both.

According to that charter, the Extensiones handle new registrations, changes of address, corrections of personal details, the renewal or confirmation of foreign residents’ registrations, and registration certificates.

What to take with you

No official Benidorm page we found lists the documents for a first registration. Across Spain, town halls ask for an identity document and proof that you live at the address, so take these and ask at the counter if anything else is needed:

  • Your passport, or your national identity card if you are European
  • Your NIE document, if you already have one
  • Your rental contract or the deeds of your home
  • A recent bill for the address, as extra support

Volante or certificate

A volante de empadronamiento is a simple note of your registration; a certificado is the formal version that some offices insist on. With an electronic DNI or a digital certificate, you can download a volante from the town hall’s sede electrónica, and certificates through its Carpeta ciudadana. Otherwise ask at the counter of the town hall’s main hall or at any Extensión, again without an appointment, showing your passport, NIE or another identity document. Parents or guardians request them for children.

Renewals, and help in town

The town hall reminds foreign residents that, depending on their nationality, they must renew or confirm their registration from time to time, and that not everyone does so on time. The pages we found do not give the intervals, so ask at an Extensión when you register.

For newcomers, the Ayuntamiento also has a Concejalía de Residentes Extranjeros, its department for foreign residents, and PANGEA (OAPMI), a municipal service that welcomes and advises migrants, by appointment, at the Jelena social services centre, Calle Olivos 11.

Questions on this floor

Do I need an appointment to register on the Benidorm padrón?

No. The town hall says it serves people without an appointment at the Ayuntamiento and at four of its Extensiones Administrativas, in the morning.

Does the padrón make me a resident?

No. It records where you live. Residence for foreigners is the green certificate for Europeans and the TIE for everyone else.

My flat is in Finestrat. Do I register in Benidorm?

No. You register with the town hall of the town where you live, Finestrat in that case.

Can I learn Spanish through the town hall?

Yes. AD’I Aula de Idiomas, the municipal language school, teaches Spanish for foreigners, and people on the Benidorm padrón are the ones who qualify for its reduced rates.
